March 2007 PreviewIt's Spring and Bang! Short Film Festival is back with what promises to be the biggest event as we introduce two exciting new sections: Dreams and Desires Bangimation - featuring the latest work from the best animators in the region - including the newest work from based Silee Films "Back to the Eighties" an animated Robbie Williams pop promo. Plus, we are especially proud to announce we will be screening the latest film from animation queen, Joanna Quinn called "Dreams and Desires" as well as many other fantastic animated treats. Back to the Eighties The other new section is Community which takes a fresh and exciting look at where we live and will include films made by community groups and organisations and showcase a special selection of films about what's happening in your community. The Main Event looks set to wow audiences as we premier the stunning "SOFT" from s hottest up coming film director, Simon Ellis. His film explores the culture of happy slapping, the fear of bullying and the responsibilities of fatherhood to highly charged effect. The film was made by Film Four for the Cinema Extreme strand of innovative, hard hitting new short films. Simon is currently putting the finishing touches to his first controversial feature - has another feature director in its midst! Soft Another name/s to watch for is/are The Turrell brothers who premier their latest work "Una" - a heartfelt and moving piece about care, or lack of it, in our society. The Turrell's innovative and edgy shorts have been a mainstay of the festival over the seasons and it.s great to watch talent like this establish itself in the region and beyond. Una Sarmad Masud from Bakersfield also shows his new film "Six and Out" a charming story of cricket and much, much more - this really is one of the finest collections of shorts here or anywhere else. Six and Out All the filmaking stars will be here so come along and get involved. |
